Tip of the Month, 8/1/10
For those of you who are nearing the end of your "swimming season" (because the kids will soon be back in school, for instance) and you are thinking about closing your pool for the year, make sure that you address the potential your pool has for breeding mosquitoes. Mosquitoes love standing water and it doesn't take long before they can become a nuisance and potential health hazard to the neighborhood. You can do your part to minimize breeding by either (1) allowing your pool water to circulate and filter during the off season, (2) using a larvicide and an algaecide to prevent "green" water, (3) installing a cover over the pool, or (4) draining the pool completely.
(Visit our "close list" page for more suggestions on safely closing your pool).
